My 2023 Recap
Hello folks! It's been a while. This post is my 2023 movie recap. No, not the movies which released in 2023, but the ones I've watched or rewatched. I know I'm a month and 3 days late to the year enders everyone does, but better late than never. It's basically just a one line summary of my experience with each of these. Hope y'all enjoy! (This is in order of the date I've watched, i.e Jan-Dec)
JANUARY
1. Waltair Veerayya: Fun flick. What one would expect from a 'no brainer' masala film.
2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: My favorite film from the series. Super good.
3. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: My favorite book from the series. Awesome.
4. Subhodayam: 1980 film by the great K.Vishwanath. Enjoyable overall, but had its flaws.
5. Cars: My 3rd favorite film of all time, dude. I frickin' love it!
6. Magadheera: One of my favorites again. I will watch this anyday.
7. Ashta Chamma: One of the funniest Telugu films ever.
FEBRUARY
8. RRR: Absolutely frickin' bonkers
9. Back to the Future Part 2: Very fun.
10. Colour Photo: It was good. That's it. No more, no less. Just good.
MARCH
9. Kung Fu Panda 3: Chit chitty chat chat, chit chat! Amazing movie.
10. The Lego Movie: Probably the funniest, most meta animated movie. Top tier.
11. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark: Coolest protagonist ever. Period.
12. Puss in Boots - The Last Wish: Exceeded my expectations by a HUGE margin. I did not expect this marvel from a Puss in Boots sequel.
APRIL
13. Balagam: Peak emotion.
14. Das Ka Dhamki: Extremely forgettable.
MAY
15. Virupaksha: Excellent movie except for 1 mistake. The mistake is that it made me shit my pants.
JUNE
16. Ponniyin Selvan Part 2: Can't call it average, but it's not exactly good. Felt very hasty.
17. Spider-Man - Across the Spiderverse: It's an absolute shame that this wasn't nominated for best picture at the Oscars. Probably the best animated movie. Maybe not, but YES INDEED.
JULY
18. Asvins: First 10 minutes had me excited. After that it was a snooze fest.
19. Barbie: Proves yet again why women are the best and the greatest. I love women.
20. Interstellar: Favorite movie for a reason.
21. The Dark Knight: Nolan is the true superhero.
22. The Shining: Chilling. Nerve-wracking. Frightening. SCARY AS SHIT.
23. Shaun of the Dead: Wacky. I love Edgar Wright.
AUGUST
24. Adipurush: S h i t s h o w.
25. Maaveeran: Had a ball watching this. Fantastic.
SEPTEMBER
26. Across the Spiderverse rewatch
27. BRO: Bruh
28. Jailer: Anirudh can hype up the most mundane things Thalaivar does, and I'm here for it.
29. Pathaan: Movie so mid that even SRK can't elevate it.
30. Chup: Big surprise for me. Spooky and engaging. Loved it.
OCTOBER
31. Ms. Shetty Mr. Polishetty: Naveen Polishetty takes this below average movie and places it in the very good tier.
32. Leo: I loved the noir style in the first half, and though the second half was shaky, I loved it as a whole. Very entertaining.
33. Maama Mascheendra: It's bad. So bad. How bad? Very bad.
34. Jumanji - The Next Level: Fun.
NOVEMBER
35. Jawan: Literally a Mahesh Babu/Vijay movie from the 2015-2020 period. Didn't like it.
36. The Lego Batman Movie: Honestly, it's one of the best Batman movies.
37. Leo rewatch
38. Titanic: Emotions hit so hard everytime. It's annoying at this point.
39. Tamasha: Truly a modern day classic.
40. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Very well done film.
41. The Silence of the Lambs: Outstanding. Loved it to bits.
DECEMBER
42. Dil Chahta Hai: I can rewatch this infinite number of times and still not get bored
43. Game Night: Went with zero expectations. Was thoroughly, thoroughly satisfied. Extremely fun.
44. A Haunting in Venice: It gives you the vibes for sure. Doesn't always deliver with the screenplay. But engaging anyways.
45. Salaar Part 1: Now this was really, REALLY fun. This is the perfect way to use Prabhas' screen presence.
46. Piku: I love this so much. And the album, jeez. Everything about this movie is perfect.
47. The Angry Birds Movie 2: It was actually pretty fun. Anyone who says that it's a shit film is just pretentious.
48. Keedaa Cola: Tharun Bhascker and Co. on cocaine for two hours straight. This is the kind of craziness I love.
So that's all the movies I watched this year. Looking forward to watching more and better films in 2024. Thanks for reading. See you later!
