Ranking Rajamouli Albums: Worst To Best
If you know me even a little bit, you'll know that I'm a huge Rajamouli fan. Such a big fan that when I type in R on my tab, Rajamouli is recommended by the autofill. Anyways, I've talked a lot about his films, and why I love them, but I've not talked a lot about his music. I mean, yeah I've talked about background scores, and Keeravani always kills it, but I'm talking about song albums. Read on (or be killed by a fly) to see my ranking of these albums, worst to best, and my favourite song from each album. (Side note: As I'm going through the songs, there isn't any bad album per se, but it's just a relative comparison.)
12. Sye
Sye is a pretty mediocre mid 2000s album. There is only one song I've gone back to listen. And some other songs' lyrics are very sleazy. Ganga AC and Pantham are good.
Favourite song: Ganga AC. It's a very creative song, taking advertisements and movie posters and singing a song with them as the lyrics. The picturization is also good.
11. Simhadri
It was painful for me to put Simhadri this low on the list, considering that one of my favourite Keeravani tracks, Nuvvu Whistle Esthey is from this. Cheema Cheema is the only other song which is catchy.
Favourite song: Nuvvu Whistle Esthey. NTR being an amazing dancer does great.
10. Vikramarkudu
I can understand that the lyrics of College Papala are meant to be that way because of Ravi Teja's character, but god damn they are VERY vulgar. So vulgar, it's funny. It's still a catchy song. Jum Jum Maya is good too.
Favourite song: College Papala. It is a fun song, minus the lyrics.
9. Yamadonga
Average 2007 music. But it makes you dance.
Favourite song: Naachore. We NEED more pirate NTR. That was funny.
8. Chatrapathi
Chatrapathi album is one I'm mad at. The songs are fine, but imagine if it didn't have songs and was made as a raw "port mafia-mother sentiment" movie. But commerce demanded songs, and they squeezed some good songs in there.
Favourite song: A Vachi B Pai. (I'm not considering Agni Skalana as a song, else that would've been it.)
7. Student No. 1
Rajamouli should be thankful to Keeravani for this album, because without these songs, no one would've watched it. There's like 4 good songs, and in 2001, songs were the pulling thing for crowds. And star power of course, but it was NTR's second film so that is ruled out. Ekkado Putti, Emetti, Kuchipudi and Paddanandi are the good ones.
Favourite song: Kuchipudi. The first time I heard it, it was a little annoying but it was one of the few songs they play on the radio so after a while, it grew on me and now I am "dhenikaina ready".
6. Eega
Eega ranks this low for the single reason that it doesn't have enough songs as the top 5. It has 4, and all are good. I would watch the fly do iconic dance steps to Eega Eega remix all day. Konchem Konchem, Nene Nani Ne, Eega Eega are amazing, but the surprise package is Lava Lava which is a slow song filled with rage.
Favourite song: Konchem Konchem. I know the popular choice is Nene Nani Ne, but I like Konchem Konchem more.
5. Magadheera
My heart is crushed that Magadheera ranks this low. But it has one annoying song, so there isn't any alternative. Other than Naakosam, every song is a gem. Daler Mehndi in Jorse Jorse is the best broken Telugu singing ever. The dance is great, and the costumes are perfect for a drunk fisherman song. There's a lyric in the song, "Eeroju Mangalavaram manchidi kadhu, maneseyi" which translates to, "Today's Tuesday, which is a bad omen, so don't do it". Very interestingly, I'm writing this on a Tuesday.
Favourite song: PANCHADARA BOMMA BOMMA, PATUKOVADDHANAKAMMA... Now that's what I call a banger.
4. Bahubali: The Beginning
Great music. But Pacha Bottasi drags it to 4th spot. Manohari is so good, man. Nippule Swasaga is such goosebumpy music. And of course, Dhivara and Sivuni Anna. Just watch the video songs, you'll get the feeling in my head. Mamatala Thalli and Jeeva Nadhi are also awesome.
Favourite song: Sivuni Aana.
3. Bahubali 2: The Conclusion
LMAO do I need to say anything about this?
Favourite song: Oka Praanam
P.S: Kanna Nidurincharaa is beautiful.
2. Maryada Ramanna
SURPRISE! The second best Rajamouli album, it has variety, and all of those songs are good. Go check it out now. Parugulu Thiy is a great song to showcase SPB's godly talent. Ennendlaku is very rooted. Telugu Ammayi is sweeeet.
Favourite song: Ammayi Kitiki Pakkana. I saw a post which said this song sounds like a Kalyani Malik song, and I can't agree more. It was the vibe this movie required and oh my Sathireddy, it is so goddamn good.
1. RRR
Of course has got to be this.
Favourite song: Dosti and Komaram Bheemudo and Raamam Raghavam and Naatu Naatu and Ethara Jenda. Just slightly above all this is Janani. Keeravani peaked here.
Hoping that the Mahesh-SSR album will be amazing, it will be, I say buh-bye to y'all. I will be back soon. That's what I say but it'll take me like a month I guess. I don't know. Depends. On my mood. And other factors. But yeah. BYE.
P.S Congratulations in advance to Keeravani and everyone else for the Oscar win. Man I'm so excited.
Goodbye.
